As the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport braces for an influx of passengers taking daily flights to Orlando, Fla., starting May 17, airport officials are considering a terminal expansion that could cost as much as $20 million and double its capacity.
The Westmoreland County Airport Authority received preliminary expansion plans from Lee-Simpson Associates Inc. and KTH Architects Inc., both of DuBois, but has not made a decision about an expansion, Chairman Donald Rossi said at the authority board’s meeting on Tuesday.
The authority should have a better idea of the scope of the expansion project after about three months of Spirit Airlines flights to Orlando.
