Ligonier officials will hear a proposal next week for the former National Guard armory, which has been vacant for four years.
The 72-year-old stone and brick building sits on three acres at the corner of West Main and Walnut streets.
A new "residential concept" will be presented to borough planning commissioners at their March 25 meeting, said John Skiavo, executive director of Economic Growth Connection, the nonprofit development agency that bought the property in 2008.
Skiavo said he could not reveal the concept because he is waiting to get input from the planning commission.
He said plans are moving forward to tear down the building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Proposals for the armory property have ranged from using the building for a public safety garage to house the borough fire department, the police department and an ambulance garage to using the property for patio-style homes costing between $230,000 and $240,000.
