Introducing the new “Walk with a Doc'” program to promote healthy living and walkable communities

Twenty years ago, Dr. Frank Cassell, Senator Allen Kukovich, Linda McKenna Boxx and the late Jack Robertshaw, Jr. joined together to create an organization that would advance smart growth principles across Westmoreland County and help communities plan for a better future. Through educational forums and community engagement, the Smart Growth Partnership of Westmoreland County has helped community organizations and leaders, small downtowns, cities, boroughs, and townships of all sizes with projects and plans that ensure our communities are healthy and attractive places to live.

In just the past few years, among many others, the City of New Kensington, Smithton and Scottdale Boroughs and the Westmoreland County Planning Department have each demonstrated a strong commitment to smart growth with successful new plans and programs. Join us to recognize the accomplishments!

The recently launched “Walk with a Doc” program will also make its debut in Westmoreland County at this educational forum led by Dr. Marie Fioravanti, DNP, RN at University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Learn about the program and take a “walk with our doc” on the Westmoreland Conservation District Stormwater Trail to show your support for healthy living and walkable, smart growth communities.
