Thank you to all who attended in person, virtually, or simply in spirit at the Smart Growth Partnership of Westmoreland County 20th Anniversary celebration on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
The celebration, held at J. Roy Houston Conservation Center and Pavilion in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, brought together our partners, funders, and community members to highlight the Smart Growth Partnership’s achievements and highlights from the past 20 years.
Frank Cassell, Allen Kukovich, Linda McKenna Boxx, and the late Jack Robertshaw, Jr. were honored during the event and the progress and accomplishments of the City of New Kensington, Scottdale and Smithton Boroughs, and Westmoreland County were highlighted.
A new program, “Walk with a Doc‘” also made its debut during the event. “Walk with a Doc” is designed to promote healthy living and walkable communities.
We are grateful to the Tribune Review for their coverage of the event: Smart Growth Partnership marks 20 years of community planning efforts in Westmoreland.
A supplemental article was also published covering our Walk with a Doc debut during the celebration!
Here can be found additional recognitions of other communities that have shown exemplary progress in smart growth.
Smart Growth Partnership staff members would like to offer special thanks to all of its board members, Penn State Extension staff, and volunteers for making the venue look so enchanting for the event. Thank you to Whit and Michelle Watts for providing for the musical ambiance. Thank you to the Master Gardeners for their expertise in ever-present maintenance of the gardens.
Thank you as well to Greg Phillips and all at the Westmoreland Conservation District for making our “campus” home such a special place in our county every day. And thank you to all county employees and to our county maintenance staff for their everyday contributions to the preparations, maintenance, and to facility cleanliness.
